Specialized data recovery tool for Windows

Stellar Data Recovery is an easy-to-use data recovery solution that helps users recover files in Windows devices, as well as other compatible storage media. This includes photos, videos, audio files, documents, and more. Whether you’ve accidentally deleted your files or had to format your device, this tool can get your data back.

Stellar Data Recovery is a versatile deleted file recovery tool with customizable scan options and an intuitive software interface. It comes in a free trial that lets you preview your files. For file-specific repair needs, however, you can check out programs like Stellar Repair for Video and Stellar Repair for PDF.

Resurrect your lost files

StellarData Recovery Standard's primary function is to restore files on any drive visible on your device. Upon opening the application, Data Recovery presents a few options to choose from, determining how the software finds these files.

You can scan all, which brings a list of files and folders; while practical, this adds significantly more time to the scan process.

If, however, you have a specific file you're looking for, and you know the file type, you can specify for the scan to only return files of that type. This makes restoring documents a breeze and helps save time versus doing a full storage scan.

But what if you want to restore everything? Well, Data Recovery Standard can aid with that as well. When selecting an option, you can opt to do a deep scan. Deep scans search absolutely everything on a drive and then presents its findings in a tree-branch list, making the results easily visible.

Deep scans, however, are longer than regular scans. Depending on the size, condition, and length you've had a device, scans can be upwards of a few hours. But these scans will often retrieve files other scans will have missed, making them arguably the most practical first scan to run unless you're looking for something specific.

Retrieval performance

One thing to note about data recovery software is to expect your PC's performance to be negatively impacted while a scan is operational, especially if you're running a scan on the drive that has your operating system installed.

However, even with a deep scan active on our operating system drive, we found that the slowdown wasn't noticeable. Yet, we suggest not running a scan of this kind while other high-resource-requiring apps are in use.

After running a quick scan, we received a complete list of the files that the software found. This is presented in a tree structure, similar to using your file explorer on Windows. Here, you can select each file independently and view more information, such as the name, size, and type of file

Data Recovery Standard also gives you the option to turn on a preview. While this can slow down the process of going through the files, it gives you a handy preview of the file as you select new ones. We found this incredibly helpful, especially with files that didn't follow a naming format or ones downloaded previously from the web.

Finally, you can make use of a search function to search for files you know the name of, allowing quick recovery access when you make a mistake clearing your drive.

Comprehensive and reliable file recovery

Stellar Data Recovery is designed for accessibility and ease-of-use, so everyone can work on recovering their files. As soon as you open the software, you get to choose between two recovery options. Quick Scan takes less time through the file system and can recover accidentally deleted files. Meanwhile, a Deep Scan relies on file signatures to track deleted files from formatted drives. Once done, the software shows all files that you can recover.

As mentioned, this can recover most files from your device. This includes files in your Recycle Bin. Aside from your internal storage, you can also use this to scan external storage media, USB drives, and a host of other storage devices. Aside from fully restoring files, this application even detects and restores fragmented media—such as incomplete or corrupted MOV and MP4 video files.

Wide support for Windows devices

For formatted drives, you can use this software for most file systems used by Windows systems—like FAT32, ExFAT, or NTFS. Even better, this also works for your email or mailbox content. You can recover cached files from Microsoft Outlook (PST files), Outlook Express, or Exchange Server, among others. Similarly, this also comes with an additional Drive Monitor Utility to help you monitor your storage media’s key metrics such as temperature and drive health.

Like other Stellar Data software, you can use its free trial to see which files are detected and available for recovery. However, to retrieve your files, you’ll need to subscribe to one of its annual plans. The Standard plan covers your standard data like various media and email files. With the Professional license, you get an added Partition Recovery capability plus recovery for Crashed Systems. Lastly, the Premium license caters to users who lean more toward photos and videos since it adds a Repair Tool for these visual media files.

Recovering important data in a flash

Stellar Data Recovery Standard provides the tools needed to recover essential data in an easy-to-use fashion. You can recover the files you hold dear at the click of a button, among other ones you didn't know you lost. Once a scan has been completed, you can recover your files and resave them to the correct location.

If you need a quick solution to a lost document or image, give Data Recovery Standard a try with Stellar's free demo. This will allow you to run a scan, recover the file, and test the functionality in the process.

Clean

It’s extremely likely that this software program is clean.

What does this mean?

We have scanned the file and URLs associated with this software program in more than 50 of the world's leading antivirus services; no possible threat has been detected.

Warning

This software program is potentially malicious or may contain unwanted bundled software.

Why is the software program still available?

Based on our scan system, we have determined that these flags are possibly false positives.

What is a false positive?

It means a benign program is wrongfully flagged as malicious due to an overly broad detection signature or algorithm used in an antivirus program.
